Last month I grudgingly participated in International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhh.
But today is October 4 -- you know, 10-4?
So wouldn't that make today International CB Day?
A quick Yahoo! search showed this post from Busy Mom last year on October 4... but there's apparently no groundswell here, no movement, no pent-up demand to commemorate 10-4 Day.
Can that be right?
Therefore, by the power vested in me as the sole proprietor of this homely blog, I hereby declare and decree today, 10/4, now and in perpetuity, International CB Day.
Are you with me? -- C'mon back.

Breaker, breaker Curmudgeon!
I have a fun-to-me-at least CB story.
When I was like 18 (yes, right before The Flood - Noah was already hammering), I took a road trip with a friend of mine and her parents to the Carolinas.
Anyway, her dad had a CB radio, and we took advantage of the *speed benefits* of several convoys. As we were about to cross the Suwanee River, we got a bunch of truckers to sing-along with us on the CB as we sang a heart-felt rendition of Florida's state song: "Swanee River".
It was fun!
CB jargon was the text messaging of its day - if you didn't know the code you were so out of it!
Over at WIXY's Gone Bananas, I have celebrated the 2nd annual WGB CB radio day by posting a clip from a local program in Cleveland about 30 years ago as they did a video to C.W. McCall's "Convoy".
This here's Rubber Duck, saying 10-4, good buddy.
I must say I have never heard of this before. It's National Poetry Day in the UK.
hey good buddy, thare's a smokey on your tailpipe... har har har.

As a former police dispatcher and someone who is fluent in 10-code when speaking on the radio, I am offended that you want this to be International CB Day and not International Speak Like a Police Dispatcher Day!
I am so hurt ...
Somebody already beat me to the "breaker, breaker" bit. Sigh. Guess that's the downside to learning all my CB speak from CW McCall.
Over and out
It's not surprising that CB lingo was so hot in 1976 - wasn't CW McCall an advertising executive? What better than an ad man to brainwash the masses?
It was early when I responded. I'm thinking that what I wrote is not CB lingo.
CONVOY! (That better?)
I left something for you on my blog under For Someone Special :)
CW McCall was a fictional character.
