Calling all techies -- (Chris, if you're out there, perhaps in your Blog-Op incarnation -- RT -- Claire -- somebody!)
At this moment I have four comments on the first post I put up this morning.
Four. And none from me.
And Sitemeter says I've had three visitors -- one just now looking for "Chicago's roadkill movie." (Eeeeeeewwwww.)
What's going on around here?
---------------------------------------------
UPDATE 2:02 pm: There are five outside comments on this post alone... and Sitemeter now says I've had no visitors today!
---------------------------------------------
UPDATE 4:31 pm: Now 14 outside comments on today's posts -- but still no visitors according to Sitemeter. And Statcounter doesn't work with Firefox? Can that be right? (It keeps telling me the login has failed -- and gives me directions for allowing a 'cookie' in IE6.x.) Sheesh.

Thanks for posting this. I've been having problems with sitemeter yesterday and today. I tried everything that I know (which is not much) to fix the problem. Glad it's not just me....
Hmm.. I don't know what's going on..
Um, I can't think of any arithmetic that makes that work.
Yep, the site meter must be screwed up.
Doc -- I noticed this yesterday but I always have a Monday drop-off because I usually don't post on weekends -- so I couldn't be certain.
(Of course yesterday wasn't just a drop-off, it was a precipitous plunge....)
And now, I have 4 visitors and (not counting this) 10 comments.
I'm glad I found your post. My Sitemeter stats have shown a 60% drop in visitors, compared to Statcounter which I've also installed on my blog. There must be a problem. I've also noticed that sites which allow you to view their stats are now directing me to Sitemeter homepage.
I know what you mean. I have to keep track on the counters to see if there is a downturn.
Mine is fine but just looked at yours and my visit just now hasn't showed up?
I heard your cry of despair through technorati and wish i could help but i haven't got a clue!
It's 11PM eastern time, and I just checked my sitemeter. And, it seems that things are improving. We'll see by tomorrow morning if everything is back to normal....
Sorry I can't help. I don't use Sitemeter.
I always forget to check how much traffic I get. Probably because its so low anyway :)
Hope your sitemeter is up and running properly soon.
I have heard that Sitemeter is very unreliable for the reporting of stats.
I use Statcounter, and recently Google Analytics, and find that they both tell a similar story.
Go for one of those is my only advice I'm afraid....
