Water-powered cars?

Speaking of saving the environment -- and making the Middle East irrelevant -- I stumbled upon this article this evening at a site called g2bgreen.com.

The linked article claims that a technology has been "patented to convert H2O into HHO, that could run a car for 100 miles on 4oz of water."

Can you imagine?

According to this article, "a Vehicle System that will run a car on a Hybrid System of H2O and Gasoline" has been developed and is "scheduled to... debut in 2008."

An entirely water-powered vehicle is supposedly also in the works, but not yet ready to roll.

Doesn't this sound too good to be true?

The problem with things that are too good to be true is that -- usually -- they are. Techies in the audience, please chime in and tell me this is plausible....

It does sound too good to be true, there's no way of knowing unless you can try it out. Let's wait and see if that happens.

Oh yeah, this doesn't pass my smell test either. This guy is in Clearwater, FL and apparently not connected with any major lab?

No doubt there will be an IPO following.

Bogus.

Water powered cars & the like will happen - just after the oil runs out. After all, the oil companies aren't going to allow them beforehand are they?

Sounds too good to be true, Curm.

For openers, if this IS true, the cost of manufacturing said buggy is probably cost prohibitive. Then, considering this would curb the sales of crude oil to be transformed into gasoline, thereby eliminating many profits for many, many big companies and OPEC, to say nothing of the rapid demise of how many state governments (like PA) who rely heavily on gasoline tax to fund virtually everything, so there would be an instant response from all those entities to outlaw production of said potential vehicle. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it - plausible or not.
