Uh oh....

Did somebody pinch the Queen yesterday?

If so, I hope it was one of her people, not one of ours... Great Britain was just about the last friend we had on this Earth....

Doesn't she look brilliant? Do American women wear hats, btw? I don't recall seeing presidents' wives wearing them. I am partial to them myself and have quite a collection.

Ellee -- I don't think hats are quite as popular here as in Britain. My wife likes hats... but mostly she wears a baseball cap. And you may have noticed Bee's comment; she likes hats, too.

I think the Queen looks she's having a wonderful time even if it is the result of someone giving her a goose! Actually, she looks like she's standing at the rail and cheering on her favorite horse to win at the Kentucky Derby!

"Move yer bloomin' arse, Dover!"

When I had the opportunity to visit London in 2005 there were only two people who I hoped to see: the Queen and Paul McCartney.
Sadly I saw neither of them.
She looks pretty good for her age, don't you think old chap?
Hope she has a good run like the Queen Mum did.

A very human picture. She looks like she's won the lottery.

Man.

I love hats. Don't wear them. You get funny looks wearing non-baseball-cap style hats in the States.

I just watched The Queen, and let me tell you, that picture has more personality in it than the entire movie's depiction of The Queen.

Which bored me to tears.

I liked the movie of the Queen. As my daughter said, it made her felt sympathetic about people that she had really had a hard time feeling sympathy for. I, too, hope the queen, has a long run because Prince Charles is not, well, very kingly.
Hats are de rigeur over here for certain classes and occasions. The weird little diddlers that women wear tro weddings are called "fascinators". That name just makes me hoot because I can see them being used to calm cobras down the way they winkle in the breeze.

She looks like one of those bettors at the track who ae hoping against hope that their nag will win-place-show and get them out of debt for this week, anyhow...
Hoping her picks placed in the real money (not that she needs it...)

Don't forget the Aussies - we're still friendly too. Our culture is becoming more like the US than the UK these days.

From the Beatles:

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
But she doesn't have a lot to say.
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
But she changes from day to day.

I want to tell her that I love her a lot,
But I gotta get a bellyful of wine.

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
Someday I'm going to make her mine, oh yeah,
Someday I'm going to make her mine

Baseball hats flatten my hair, I like the wide brimmed ones.

I wonder if she's seen that movie about her?
