There may be worse things than booby-trapped apples out there. Lehman Brothers stock, perhaps.
Actually, checking the kids' Trick or Treat bags was a Dad duty in our house... and one I did not try and shirk.
Why, I felt it was vitally important to check each and every piece of candy against tampering.
And to sample. Liberally sample.
For safety reasons only, of course.

Hi, Cur, the comic about Lehman brothers stock for Halloween made me wince, which in this day and age can look a lot like a wry smile. I have to livelong enough now to re-build the too little bit that I had invested to retire on.
Over here the biggest topic in the media (next to US election) is the scandal from two BBC comedians who (on air) left a message on an actor's phone machine including vulgar references to a sexual liaison with his granddaughter. Oddly enough some people thought this was neither funny nor right. Even odder still, some people did not see what the big deal was. I think the world on both sides of the pond is getting stranger even faster than I am getting old(er).
What kind of dad wouldn't sample the candy for safety. I did so, even this Halloween. And our kids are away in college. Trust, but verify!
Dad all wants the best! He wants to make sure that everything is safe. That's it.
We have hordes of kids in our village who do this and I always enjoy seeing them. I'm glad you did your bit too.
Many, many thanks for your excellent Obama comment. It's been fascinating to watch his campaign, and, as you say, so much happening....
That's a sharp cartoon!
