Obama balancing the budget -- one ambitious pol at a time

Sure, the headlines are all about government spending... how the government is throwing still more truckloads of money at banks so they can keep on raising our credit card rates... but, meanwhile, new President Obama is hard at work balancing the budget.

How?

He keeps offering high government posts to tax dodgers. They fall over themselves trying to make good on their back taxes... and all to our benefit.

Timothy Geithner was confirmed as Treasury Secretary after paying $34,000 in back taxes. Recently, former Senator Tom Daschle withdrew from consideration for the post of Secretary of Health and Human Services... but not before he paid $140,000 in taxes he'd avoided. Nancy Killefer was tapped for a new job, identifying and eliminating inefficient government programs. She withdrew from consideration after it was revealed that she'd failed to pay a District of Columbia unemployment tax for household help.

Mr. Obama says he 'screwed up' -- that the 'vetting process' was flawed in that these problems did not surface before the appointments were announced.

Maybe so.

Or maybe he's working from a list.

Either way, it's working.
