"I can't stand working in a messy office. My office was starting to look like... yours."

That's what my colleague told me the other day as he diligently packed boxes and filed papers away.

Then he realized what that must have sounded like... and he apologized.

But there was no need. I couldn't take offense.

My office looks just about as bad as one my kid's bedrooms.

Yes, that bad.

Today, I vowed, as I left the house, I would clean my office -- file away papers, rearrange files, try and find the surface of my desk... all of that.

Of course, I might as well have vowed to cure the common cold.

Still, it's nice to have a goal... even if it's one that is wholly unattainable. Now, if you'll excuse me....

I gave up being orderly years ago. Perhaps I should say I gave up feeling guilty about being a genetic slob years ago.

For years my desk was a absolute mess, but I knew where everything was.

Putting papers in a filing cabinet or box tend to make you forget exactly where you have put them.

Sometime the least organized looking people are in fact the most organized.

sounds like my closet, i just can't seem to get it done. i did, however, remove about ten large bags of stuff to donate but it is hardly missed in there... yikes!
