Film lists always provoke discussion. Generally, it's a good list, but with a few surprises left out.

I've seen 45 out of the 100. That's pretty bad, I'll have to work on that.

Of course there's always going tobe stuff you think should be there that isn't and vice versa - but really - Titanic and Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Where's "Breakfast at Tiffany"? Where's "In Cold Blood"? That they are both Capote stories is coincidental. Where are "Saturday Night Fever", "Capote", "Brokeback Mountain", "Crash", "The Hours"?

I'd have moved "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "Shawshank Redemption" up and "Lord of the Rings" and "Forrest Gump" down.

I have (GASP!) not yet seen "Citizen Kane" - for those who have seen both, is it really better than "The Godfather"?

And then there's "2001: A Space Odyssey" - I just don't get it.

Casablanca is fabulous, my favorite line by Captain Renault to Rick: "You are not only a sentimentalist, you are also a patriot!". And the Godfather, during the Baptism, where the priest says "Do you reject Satan and his empty promises?" while another enemy is being eliminated.

In general, the list is okay, although not on the list, one of my favorites of all time is Barry Levinson's 'Diner'. I love where the fiancée has to pass the Baltimore Colts test before the wedding can take place...

Well, I've seen 94 of them, and one of my all time favorites didn't make the list; that would be Sex, Lies & Videotape, Steven Soderburgh's first, fabulous, almost perfect film that I never tire of watching...

Now I'm going to have to count and see how many I've seen -- more than half, anyway, I'm sure....

I still think Casablanca's much better than Citizen Kane (so I'm with you, Ralph -- sorry, Mr. Ebert)... but the opening scene in the Animaniacs movie... where Yakko, Wakko and Dot are burning things to keep warm... including a sled... yes, you knew it had a name didn't you?

Makes me laugh every single time.

Wow, I had better start updating my netflix queue. Seems I have a lot of great movies to watch.

And I second, the Dirty Dancing nomination.

Oh, and why isn't Smoky and the Bandit on there?
