A visual post -- or -- You can call me Ray....

I may have become too warm and fuzzy of late for a true Curmudgeon.

This is a matter of concern for me.

This is more like how I see myself (note the concealed identity):

Or possibly like this:

This certainly conveys the right attitude. Although the image is way too skinny.

At first blush, this comports well with the image I'm trying to project here:

Although the associations with that character might be too jocular. And certainly too energetic. Maybe this is better:

(Actually, that's not a bad likeness.)

Now please understand when I say this -- because I really like comments. I really, really like comments. I try and leave as many as I can during the course of the day on other sites and so many of you have been generous in return, responding here and on your own sites. But lately I've noticed a certain contraction of "Curmudgeon" that is creeping into the conversation... and I think we are going to have to nip this in the bud. It's not that the contraction is offensive -- but I don't know... it reminds me of this:

While the skin color is certainly right, and so is the vacant look, I just don't think this picture portrays the real me....

well curmie i'd bet my bottom dollar you were talking about me!! and i pictured you exactly like those images, all rolled into one. don't worry about that!

now, do you want me to call you something else or leave you alone? hmmm, let's see, maybe cur-moo? or cur-mudge? i just don't know, maybe hey you???

but really, i do not find you warm and fuzzy at all, but likeable nonetheless...bee

Cur-moo?

Isn't that a whale at SeaWorld?

I've answered to "hey you!" -- and lots worse besides.

I'm not complaining, not really, since I'm from the 'you can call me anything except late to supper' school.

Just trying to protect the image, that's all. I don't want the frog to play me in the movie version of this blog.

Come on, you’re just being modest. Somehow I always imagined you looking like one of those handsome lawyers for Boston Legal.

P.S. I spent my disco days in Champaign, Illinois.

The fact that you worry that you are being/appearing too nice confirms your right to call yourself a curmudgeon. Only a true curmudgeon would worry about that, I think.

The worst picture of me is typically my passport one; I look dreadful!

Curmie?

Mudgie?

I think you look more like Fred Thompson-- former attorney, former senator from the great state of TN, current actor.. But I'm guessing you are younger..

well alrighty then, curmie it is. and i didn't picture you all that young either, just so you know. smile......bee

I was wondering how long it would take you to say something about Bee's habit of shortening your name to something that sounds remarkably like a famous green frog...
But now that you mention it; warm and fuzzy is NOT the impression I get. I picture you as someone dignified, and worthy of respect. How far off that may be, I couldn't tell you, not having seen you in person, but that's where my mental imagery goes when I think of you.

It's not easy, being green.

That's what I hear, anyway.
